Welcome to the website of the International Network of Scholars Researching Unofficial Marriages (INSRUM).
This network brings together academic scholars from multiple disciplines who are researching the issue of unofficial (informal, unregistered / religious-only) ‘marriages’ anywhere in the world. Their unofficial status may have legal, religious, social, cultural, economic, and human rights consequences, to name but a few. As such, research in the area needs to be truly multi-disciplinary. INSRUM provides a platform for scholars to connect and collaborate, anywhere in the world.
